Attention TN Surgeons: Urgent Call to Action

For nearly a decade, advanced practice providers (APPs) like nurse practitioners (APRNs) and physician assistants (PAs) have lobbied the Tennessee General Assembly to allow them to practice medicine without the oversight of a physician, arguing that in doing so, they can help fill the gap in health care access by practicing in underserved communities at a lower cost.

After years of trying to work in good faith with these providers to reach a compromise, TMA is prepared to offer a hybrid oversight model that would allow experienced APPs to gain more autonomy in diagnosing and treating patients while ensuring that oversight is maintained by the highest trained experts in the medical field: physicians. TNACS supports this effort.  More information is available here.

The Hybrid-Model of Care bill is being heard tomorrow (March 19) in the Senate Health Committee and House Health Subcommittee.  IF your TN State Senator or Representative sits on one of these committees, please take five minutes to send an email urging them to vote YES on SB2136/HB2318.

Again, here is the link to the email we are asking you to send.

Thank you for joining TNACS in promoting patient safety in TN.
