Annual Meeting
Dear Fellows:
On behalf of the Executive Council of the Tennessee Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, I invite you to attend the 2008 Annual Meeting, May 23 – 25, Hilton Suites, Downtown Nashville. (Contact wanda@tnacs.org for a registration brochure.)
This is a year of change for the TN Chapter. Not only have we moved the dates of the Annual Meeting from late Summer to Spring, we have relocated from the State Park setting to a Metropolitan area. Why?? We are incorporating into the meeting interviews of applicants for fellowship in the American College of Surgeons. We are doing this in an effort to embrace young surgeons and involve them in Chapter and College activities. They are our future, and we want to do all we can to support them.
Our special guest this year is Dr. David Richardson, Professor of Surgery, University of Louisville.
The meeting begins Friday at noon with a presentation by Dr. Pat Reilly, University of Pennsylvania. This will be followed by the Trauma Paper Competition, sponsored by the Committee on Trauma, which will conclude no later than 3 pm. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this competition.
Again this year, the Adkins / Morgan Resident Paper Competition on Saturday morning will include simultaneous sessions of clinical and basic science presentations. As a meeting attendee, you can decide which presentations are of most interest to you and attend those of your choice.
Social events are still being planned . . . stay tuned for exciting announcements.
I am looking forward to this year’s meeting and encourage you to register for the meeting and make your hotel arrangements as soon as possible. Hope to see you in May.
Tony Haley, MD, FACS
President, TN Chapter, ACS
